The pozi screw is a variation of the Phillips drive screw design and can be identified by the four notches that are marked in the head of the screw that the Phillips screw does not have. The Phillips screw heads are prone to something called cam-out which is where the drive recess slips out when the torque exceeds a certain limit. The pozi drive screw style has the same self-centring design that the Phillips screw has, but it allows you to increase torque without the worry of cam-out and the greater surface contact engagement between the drive and recess in the fastener head makes it harder to slip when installed correctly. This style of screw is universal and can be used for several purposes.
The Spax Countersunk Pozi Screw features a characteristic called the 4CUT point. The point reduces the chances of wood splitting significantly and makes it unnecessary to pre-drill for most wood types, as well as reducing the insertion moment. The cutter on the thread run-out expands the wood even more and the thinner shank no longer produces friction, keeping torque low and saving energy.
The countersunk head is conical in shape which makes the screw perfect for use when you need to partially or fully conceal the screw, as the head sits flush against the surface.
